A few weeks back, my sister Corinne and her eldest of 2 boys, Eric came to visit us. Eric will be 4 this December. He's talked about taking a big plane to See-attle (he pronounces it v. cutely with over exaggerated vowels) ever since we moved out here. So the this trip was big stuff for him. We had a wonderful visit with them that seemed to revolve around transportation methods. He was able to take a plane, ferry, train and automobile.
Friday while we were busy working, Auntie Thereza took them to the peninsula via a ferry. They saw a salmon hatchery, which is the best place to see hundreds of fish - very amusing.
Saturday Cory, Rob, Eric and I went up into the Cascades to show Eric what a mountain was. We stopped at Snoqualamie falls which impressed him greatly. We took a train ride one-way about 7 miles in an old vintage train. It was definitely cool, but both Cory and I were amazed it could still move.
Sunday we went down to Pikes place for lunch and then Thereza, Cory, Eric and I went to the Seattle Center where Thereza treated us to ferris wheel ride and Eric a merry-go-round. We also went to the top of the needle, or the "big building" as Eric referred to it. Then we saw Suessical, a Dr. Seuss musical at the Children's Theatre. It was definitely the hit of the trip since, Cory has all the books memorized and Eric is the no. 2 fan of Dr. Seuss. For a 3.5 year old at his first play he did wonderfully. Not a peep and barley a wiggle. At intermission when the lights started going on, he got a little panicked because the story wasn't resolved. I had to explain that we had merely put the play on pause and that the actors needed a rest before they finished.

The day after Cory and Eric returned to Chicago, Eric's Grandma Dorothy asked him, what was his favorite thing about Seattle. His response.....Uncle Rob!
