Sunday Outting

Today we went to visit our friends Allie & Jason and their 2 month old son, Owen and a new house in Poulsbo, WA. Rob and Jason were in the MBA program together and Allie is in book club with me. Poulsbo is across the sound via the ferry and a drive across Bainbridge Island. It was a beautiful day so we had a nice time traveling and of course visiting with them and their cute son.

Rob's New Instrument!

Last week, Rob's Ebay bid on a Yamaha Motif ES8 keyboard was low....but the highest! So, now he's the proud owner and enjoying all his playing time. It doesn't have speakers so I don't get to enjoy it as much. He hopes to record drum & piano music to compliment his guitar music—he's a one man band.

Yummy Food Weekend

This weekend we indulged ourselves by preparing 2 really good meals—that our mom's would have been proud of.


To start, Saturday night, I made us Southwestern Tenderloin Steaks with Chipotle mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Since fillets are so expensive we made it with a random piece of beef that was either a London Broil or most likely a round roast slice. It wasn't the best cut of meat but the seasonings were awesome. The potatoes were the best.

Sunday Rob tried out his Christmas present from my mom, a Weber rotisserie. He made an orange saffron chicken (without the saffron). Yumm Yumm Yummy!

Alaska September '05

In September of 2005 we were lucky enough to travel to Alaska. We've been meaning to post the photos for awhile...a very long while. We flew into Anchorage where we met Rob's parents. The four of us drove North about 5 hours to Denali National Park. As we headed North the fall colors became more and more evident in the scenery. "Fall" usually only lasts for about 2 weeks there and to plan a trip around it is pretty hard, so it was a complete stroke of luck. We stayed a couple days in Denali, took the bus tour to a view point of McKinley and hiked a bit.

After that we drove back South past Anchorage and on to the Kenai Peninsula and stayed in Seward. It wasn't as fall looking there, but there were amazing glaciers to explore. We hiked to Exit Glacier and then took a boat tour around Prince William Sound. The entire leg of the trip it rained but it was still an amazing visit.

Returning to Seattle was a bit difficult. Rob and I had to spend a night in the Anchorage airport waiting for the free stand by flight home. All in all it was all worth it and we would highly recommend visiting Alaska.

Exit Glacier












Here you can see how much the glacier receded since the year I was born. It was about a 1/2 mile hike from this sign to the glacier.
